Advertiser Disclosure
InformedShopper.org is reader-supported. Here is exactly how we make money and how it affects what you see.
Last updated: July 3, 2026
The short version
InformedShopper.org is a free, reader-supported website. We may be compensated when you click a link, request a quote, or make a purchase from a brand featured on our site. That compensation may include affiliate commissions, referral fees, or paid advertising arrangements.
Assume that any brand, product, or offer featured on this website is one we may be paid to promote. That includes brands shown in our rankings, comparison tables, brand cards, "top pick" callouts, promotional pop-ups, and links within our articles and blog posts.
This disclosure is provided in the spirit of the Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements, testimonials, and the use of affiliate links (16 C.F.R. Part 255). We want you to understand exactly how we earn money before you rely on anything you read here.
How we make money
We earn revenue primarily in the following ways:
- Affiliate and referral commissions. When you click a link on our site and then take an action with a partner (such as making a purchase, signing up, or requesting a quote), the partner may pay us a commission or referral fee.
- Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Some links on this site go to Amazon.com, and we earn a commission when you buy through them.
- Brand-funded creator commissions. We participate in Amazon Creator Connections and similar programs in which specific brands fund additional commissions on their products. Products from participating brands may be featured more prominently as a result.
- Advertising and placement fees. Some companies pay us to be featured, listed, or displayed more prominently on the site.
- Cost-per-click and cost-per-lead arrangements. In some cases we are paid when you click a link or submit your information through one of our forms or partner offers.
You never pay more because of these arrangements. The compensation comes from the partner, not from you, and using our links does not increase the price you pay.
How compensation affects what you see
We want to be direct about this: the relationships we have with brands and advertisers can influence our listings, including which products appear, the order in which they are ranked, how they are reviewed, and which product features we choose to highlight. A brand that has a paid relationship with us may appear higher, more often, or more prominently than one that does not.
Our rankings, ratings, and "scores" are a combination of editorial judgment and commercial relationships. They are intended to help you compare options, but they are not a guarantee that a featured brand is the best choice for your specific situation, the cheapest available, or superior to brands we do not feature.
How We Rank
Our rankings are driven primarily by data we gather on this site. As shoppers browse a comparison, the products they click, compare, and choose most often tend to move up the list over time. That real behavior is the strongest signal we use.
We layer two more inputs on top of shopper behavior:
- Editorial review. Our team evaluates each product against the criteria that matter in its category and writes up honest pros and cons, including for products we earn a commission from.
- Commercial relationships. Affiliate commissions and brand-funded creator programs are one input and can influence placement, but they never let a brand buy a specific rank or a specific score.
Rankings can change at any time as new behavior data comes in, as products are updated, or as our assessment of them changes.
What this is not
- We do not include every available brand, product, or offer in a given category. Our coverage is limited, and many options are not listed.
- Our content is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not professional, financial, legal, medical, or purchasing advice. See our Terms of Service for the full disclaimer.
- Ratings and rankings reflect our opinions and commercial arrangements as of the date shown and may change at any time without notice.
Do your own research
Because our content may be influenced by paid relationships, we strongly encourage you to do your own independent research before making a purchase. Compare prices, read the brand's own terms, and confirm the current details of any offer directly with the company. Offers, pricing, and availability change frequently and may differ from what is described on our site.
