Your privacy matters. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Last updated: June 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how InformedShopper.org ("InformedShopper," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you visit informedshopper.org and any related pages (collectively, the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information we collect
Information you provide to us. If you contact us, sign up for a newsletter, submit a form, or otherwise communicate with us, we may collect information such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain information, including your IP address, device and browser type, operating system, referring and exit pages, pages viewed, links clicked, and the dates and times of your visits. We collect this information using cookies and similar technologies (described below).
Information from third parties. Our advertising and affiliate partners may provide us with information about actions you take after clicking a link on our Site (for example, whether a referral resulted in a purchase), so that commissions and referrals can be attributed.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and we ask that you not submit payment card numbers, Social Security numbers, or similar sensitive data to us.
Cookies and tracking technologies
We use cookies, web beacons, pixels, and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, measure traffic, understand how the Site is used, and support our affiliate and advertising relationships. Some of these technologies are set by third parties, such as analytics providers and affiliate networks.
You can usually control cookies through your browser settings and may be able to refuse or delete them. Some features of the Site may not function properly if cookies are disabled. Where required by law, we will request your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its content;
- Measure and analyze traffic, usage, and engagement;
- Attribute affiliate referrals and process related compensation;
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support;
- Send communications you have requested, such as newsletters;
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, security issues, and technical problems; and
- Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Affiliate links and advertising
The Site contains affiliate links and advertising. When you click certain links, third parties may set cookies or collect information to track referrals and serve advertising. Their collection and use of information is governed by their own privacy policies, which we do not control. For more on how compensation affects our content, see our Advertiser Disclosure.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, analytics, and email delivery;
- Advertising and affiliate partners, as needed to attribute referrals and measure campaigns;
- Legal and safety reasons, when we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with the law, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of any person; and
- Business transfers, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
Some sharing for advertising and analytics purposes may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under certain state privacy laws. See "Your privacy rights" below for how to opt out.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, and to opt out of certain uses.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and certain targeted advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Residents of the EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions (GDPR). You may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@informedshopper.org. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may also enable a recognized opt-out preference signal (such as Global Privacy Control) in your browser, and we will treat it as a valid opt-out request where required by law.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no industry-standard interpretation of these signals, we do not currently respond to them, but we do honor recognized opt-out preference signals where legally required, as described above.
Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements, after which we delete or de-identify it.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International users
We operate the Site in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries that may have data protection laws different from those in your country.
Third-party websites
The Site links to third-party websites and services that we do not control. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be posted on this page, and your continued use of the Site after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
